Playfish Cash Cards at Walgreens

walgreenHoly moley! Playfish Cash Cards are now available at Walgreens in the United States. The next time you pick up your meds, shampoo or toothpaste, you can treat yourself to either a $10 or $25 card, good for buying Playfish Cash.

This is a HUGE development for Playfish and the social games industry overall. Spending real money on an imaginary jacuzzi or a Halloween “mummy fish” will no longer be thought of as weird or fringe behavior. Clearly, you’ve arrived in mainstream, middle America when your product is displayed next to Hershey bars and cards for Target and McDonald’s.

Initial reactions by fans are positive. Despite grumblings by a few who’ve nicknamed the company “Payfish,” many gamers are rushing out to their neighborhood Walgreens, spurred by the cuteness factor of the pink and blue plastic.

Two weeks ago, I conducted a poll asking how much money you spend on Pet Society. Out of more than 1,000 respondents, 15% reported spending $20 or more each month. But a whopping 85% of you said you didn’t spend a dime. I wonder how these cards will affect those numbers in the next several months. I’m sure it’s no accident that the cards just happen to come in time for the holidays—stocking stuffers, anyone?

This actually makes me so happy :) I was just thinking the other day that if Playfishcash was more accessable, I might purchase some. Now it is…and I fear my paycheck is quite frightened of being spent :)

    Amy,

That depends on which country you are in. You can find the prices by going to the Cash Shop, clicking on the ATM and then clicking on any of the payment options. I’m playing in the United States and the cost is currently 55 PC for $9.99, 120 PC for $19.99 and 260 PC for $39.99. These Playfish Cash Cards are also good for just buying bags of regular coins as well, and those prices are different. You find that by going to the Bank (as opposed to the Cash Shop).

I do have a question. I live in Panama City, Panama. As you may imagine we dont have Walgreens over here (as far as I know =o jiji), but since last week we now have the option to redeem Playfish Cash Cards. My question is, do you have any knowledge if Playfish is thinking on deploying these cards to other large international chain stores, such as wallmart, for instance?

I wonder cause, It was kinda odd to find that option available o.O but we cant honestly use it (unless I have a relative in USA or Canda, that can drive to a Walgreen and purchase a Playfish Cash Card for me.. which in that case will be kinda odd to ask for those such favors, since its easier for me to just use my credit card to purchase some online myself. jajaja)

I just bought $25 playfish cash card from Walgreens. I was trying to redeem the cash but it keeps on saying, “logged in to Facebook.”

I went to facebook first. Then, in pet society and to the cash shop. I typed in my PIN. It keeps saying, “logged in to facebook.com???????

Please tell me step by step on what to do.

Please come to CVS! I have no vehicle access except busing to a Walgreens for a mile in a different part of town.. :(

  19. 23 Meowy May 7, 2010 at 12:53 am

I bought the $40 of playfish when I first started playing since they give a discount if you get $40 worth. If I buy an ordinary game it usually costs about that and most ordinary games last less than the several months that the $40 of playfish cash lasted me.
So now that it has been used up, I will probably buy another batch.
