There are some gorgeous new fish in the pond. These are so new that they’re not even mentioned yet in the official Pet Society blog or in the forum. Big thanks to Janna for sending in the pics. We’re not sure how many other fish there are in this latest release, but here are four kinds. They’re all realistic fish, as opposed to something like the Cupcake Fish, which is pure fantasy. Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the new Pet Society fish and their real counterparts.
Indian Glassy Fish![]() I love how transparent and delicate this is. |

Mahi Mahi![]() Mahi Mahi is fairly common in restaurants, and it’s delicious. Who knew it was so mean looking? |

Rainbow Fish![]() The Pet Society version almost looks like a flag or a kite. Love it! The real version, not so much. |

Royal Gramma![]() I’ve never heard of this fish before. It looks almost exactly like the real version. I wonder if the Pet Society artist is big into marine life, or if drawing fish is something new to her. |

Tips for Catching the New Fish
Janna says that she caught all of these using apples and the Pro Fishing Gear. Here’s a pic of her pet Violet with her fish. She has so many that she could open up her own Sea World!

Oh man, Pro Fishing Gear?
Which means meer mortals like me will nvr catch a single one of those beauties. T_T
I don’t have the gear either. Try catching one the Festive Fish with a giant gumdrop or an Icefish with any of the hot beverages from the cafe.
Omg, I can’t believe they are using a ‘painted’ glassy fish! It is pink in colour cos the one in that photo has been injected with pink dye in order to make it look more attractive and sell for more money. This is really really bad for the fish & most aquarium hobbyists are against this practise. Even that wikipedia article you link to mentions it.
I feel slightly disappointed in Playfish for featuring a dyed fish. But I suppose they didn’t realise it’s un-natural, just like a lot of amateur fish keepers, when they are tricked into buying them
Oh no… I didn’t realize that they were painted. That’s sad.
The Rainbow Fish is pure G-O-R-G-O-E-U-S!
The Indian Glassy fish is great!
Btw I love your blog!
GRRR!!! I MUST HAVE PF CASH TO BUY PRO FISHING GEAR!!! Bah! I like Mahi-Mahi, and rainbow fish. I want send this image to my friends on facebook. Teeheehee
What the thing on blue chair? Like a halloween slime
U…u…u I don’t have PF cash, and Janna not add me on facebook. I want tell Janna to give me pro fishing gear. Bagh
Cool! Thanks for posting a picture of my character Violet!
I don’t know why I am so determined to catch all the fish!
But I like the challenge. (I do not, however, have all of the fish that require PlayFish Cash Fish Bait though… because that would cost me a fortune!)
It may be possible to catch these fish without the fishing gear… I don’t know. Give it a try!
Another thing I’ve figured out is that you can only have a maximum of 5 of the same type of fish in your inventory. And the fish in your aquariums also count toward that. So what I’ve been doing is to keep 4 of each fish in my inventory and 1 of each in my various aquariums so I will always catch the newest fish with no extra effort. It works great!
The last fish looks like the one on Finding nemo!
There’s currently a big shopping spree with new New
Year items and a clearance sale (said to be the biggest one yet), which makes me sick with anxiety. I’m trying to save up money, therefore all I can do is look at all the new items. It’s sad to see all the glimmer while you’re almost bankrupt. Hope you have an awesome New Year! Lots of cider to you. (toasts)
I love the rainbow fish! I just don’t know where to put it
Soy-On what your name in facebook??i want to add you for pet society friend…
errr, u just said her name?
Yeah, tell me your name on facebook!
hmmmm….a friend gave me the pro fishing gear a few months ago, and i thought i striked a fortune. but that wasen’t really true. Yes, i caught different fish. Yes, i did get nice fish. But the fish were super tiny.something like the mosquito fish. the biggest fish i caught was the big mola mola.
The Pro-Fishing Gear doesn’t guarantee that you will catch the fish you want right away, but it does help! And without it, there are some fish that you cannot catch… like the Coelecanth and the Mola Mola. (I’m not sure which other fish that includes though.) Plus, when you wear the Pro-Fishing Gear, you will never catch junk items… which I like!
The easiest way that I have found (with or without the Pro-Fishing Gear) to catch the fish that you want is to keep fishing over and over again (it will take a long time) and to hang on to all of those fish and junk items in your inventory. It seems weird, but you cannot catch and hang onto (in your inventory and aquariums) more than 5 total of each fish or item. So when you do that, you will no longer catch the junk items or “junk fish”… and you’ll be much more likely to catch the specialty fish!
That is how I finally caught the Catfish and Watermelon fish.
You’ll know when you’ve caught 5 of each fish and junk item when you start catching fish that you already have 5 of and it will tell you to throw it back.
But keep in mind that there are some fish you can only catch with one type of food… like you can only catch a Seahorse using carrots and you can only catch a Catfish using milk, etc.
The indian glassy fish luks like an eaten fish, see the skeleton and the pink part is lyk flesh
