We’re having fun with the latest petling feature in Pet Society. Sushi got a dog and is busy feeding it and watching it run around the house.
We had a moment of panic when the game asked us to name our new dog. After about 10 seconds, we decided to call it “George,” because we think that pets should have real, dignified names, and not adjectives like “Snowy” or “Sandy.”
We weren’t able to get the cat, because we don’t have enough coins right now, so we’ll have to wait to post about that. But maybe one petling is enough. After all, if we neglect to feed it for three days, it’s going to run away. Also, my real pet is wondering where the hell his food is.

I was going to name my cat petling Gatildo Jr., because my pet is Gatildo but I named it Kittenildo, well… It sounds awful! lol
And in case you’re wondering, it’s a shame that it rhymes with dildo, Gatildo is is portuguese so when I invented the name I didn’t realize what it rhymes with…
Oh. Hmm. I didn’t even think of Dildo until you said it. Now I will never forget it!

What exactly do you have to do to get one?
I went to the Garden Shop, clicked on the cat petling and said yes, a 1000 coins were taken away from me, but no pet came, nothing happened… Where is it supposed to go? Where do you chose its name, colour, etc.?
Ooops, nevermind.
It did not occur to me that they would send it to my chest (silly me)
I cannot help but to laugh every time I see my pet’s kitten jump and fly through the air
I wish the pet and the petling could interact with eachother. there are also some layering issues, when the petling is standing on something and the pet walks by…the petling will magically hover over the pets face
I decided not to get a pet because… I’M SPOILED!
jk waiting to get the next petlings maybe a horse?.. or something.
My guy friend got a pink dog named Hua.. and he feels weird about it.. but still likes it, he’s a good sport.. but I wouldn’t know what to do

I love how when you put the petlings in your inventory and mouse over it it comes up as it’s name!

yes, the food shop gives 8 specific foods for the petlings. the petlings will have a picture over thier head when they’re hungry, showing which of the foods they want to eat. if you ignore feeding them they run away

Mine didn’t either. But maybe they continue to change as they grow. I can’t wait to see what it will look like by tomorrow.
I got a kitten you cant get any more cause they have a message that having a petling is a VERY big reaspondsable they wont ket you have anythere one untill your first one is full grown i called my one Mini its a borwn dark brown kitten with blue eyes and eyelashs with a pink collar so i dressed the same color as my little cutie
I got a doggie. Think that would be cute, dontcha…except for the fact he is a hideous, bright blue color. Who thought of that one.
I go on visits and see cute grey, brown, white, beige…ok you get the drift. I went to the forum. There were numerous complaints about the “hideous, bright blue” color of their pet. Why not let the stylist change it? The other poster was correct…some guy complained he had a pink pet, of all things, and what was he to do?
Many asked about starving the pet, letting it run away…etc..
Ok, so why didn’t they warn us or better yet let us pick our own color!

I have the same dog as you, except that it is black… I called it Fluff, because of the FLUFF that sticks out of its tail. Mine doesn’t have a tail like yours. It has a huge BALL OF FLUFF!!! And you can only have 1 petling at a time.
My pet is sooo cut, she’s a little orange kitten. At least i assume it’s a she, do they all have pink collars?

I also wish there was more interaction between pets and petlings. But the petlings are very cute, going up into places in your rooms that the pets never contact. I’m curious how these will play out, past the first day and first feeding of my kitten.

For those of you who haven’t gotten a petling yet, there’s an easy way to get exactly the one you want
Just have your browser “work offline” once you’ve already logged on to Pet Society. Then, go buy your pet, feed it, and refresh if you don’t like what it looks like. If you do like what it looks like, just put your browser back online and save.

I’m glad someone noticed! This is actually something that I was wondering about myself, if I should write as “we” or continue with “I.” I switched partly because I felt like my pet Sushi should be part of the story. After all, the petling is HIS pet. But another (more practical) reason is that many of my blog posts are now published on AOL’s games.com, and there, the standard is to write from the “we” perspective.

Yes, I admit there is irony in that statement. Sushi is a pretty dumb name for a pet. And George is hardly a dignified name in the post-Bush era. (Sorry, Bush fans.)

I put the food down that my kitten wanted, but nothing happened. The food is just sitting there, and also, my pet ate one of the food that I put down for my petling. Would someone please tell me “How do I make sure my Petling eats the food, and NOT my pet?” Does the Petling eat it after I log off? What’s up? No one has answered that question yet. Please help.

So far, I’ve fed my petling twice. Both times were after he showed food over his head.
Oh, and I made sure to drop the food over the petling’s head.

I’ve got a kitten too! I called it Chocolate. The funny thing is, I put my petling into my inventory, mouse over it and it said, “Chocolate”(how would I tell if I had a bar of chocolate in my inventory too?
