Petlings Grow Up in Pet Society

The second day of our petling’s life was marked by significant growth. We couldn’t resist bringing out our measuring stick from our cooking days. As you can see here, on the first day, George was barely 2 centimeters in height and all paws could fit in 1 centimeter. After we fed him a rare steak on the second day, he shot up to 2.4 cm, or 20% growth!

However, we also saw that he was starting to get an attitude!

In any case, we can’t wait for him to mature to his full size. Already, we’ve noticed that in addition to walking and jumping, he can do a somersault in the air. And since Pet Society is full of surprises, we wonder if the petlings are going to start pooing!

Common Questions about Petlings in Pet Society

  • Q:How can I change my pet’s appearance?
A:Like so many things in Pet Society, the way petlings turn out is purely random. However, you can now change the color of the fur with a petling biscuit, which is available at the Cash Shop. Note that the biscuit does not change the eyes, the tail or any other feature except the color.

  • Q:Can I get more than one petling?
A:Only after your first one grows to its full size can you get a second one.

  • Q:What is the coolest name of a petling you’ve heard of?
A:Our friend Luxe named her petling James Dean. He rules.

  • Q:My pet has strange orange eyes. I hate it. But I can’t sell the petling, so I’m going to get rid of him by not feeding him and letting him run away.
A:I don’t know why Playfish made it impossible to sell or gift your petlings, but in some ways, this is akin to real life. You shouldn’t give away a pet simply because it didn’t turn out to be exactly what you wanted. Make the best of what you have!

why do you write in plural? are you another blogger?

    • 2 Pet Society Anonymous February 2, 2010 at 3:29 am

Haha, this is actually something that I was wondering about myself, if I should write as “we” or continue with “I.” I switched to we partly because I felt like my pet Sushi should be part of the story. But another reason is that my blog is now syndicated on AOL’s games.com, and there, the standard is to write from the “we” perspective.

      • 3 assy February 2, 2010 at 4:30 am

        ohh…ok
maybe you can write it as ”I” on the blog…it’s just that I think your great way of writing loses a lottle bit woth the ”we” perspective, but that’s just me.
Conratulations for the AOL thing btw!

      • 4 assy February 2, 2010 at 4:31 am

although…now that you said it, reading it in the ”Sushi and I” perspective, I enjoy it more :D

Ok I have that blue dog…lol.

But in real life, I would actually get to SEE the pet and CHOOSE it according to how it looked. If I didn’t like the way it looked…I wouldn’t get it.

Of course, I was the one who always chose the Charlie Brown lookin’ Christmas tree…lol

omg! you are not going to believe it.. for a sec i hated my petling… just for sec… lastnight i bought the cupid ice cream… i bought 2, i put it over a pretty table and decorated it cherries from a tree.
tonight, when i opened my pet society, the petling ate it! all! omg! omg! omg! i only buy that food for decor, my pet lives from cheap cheese :)

i visited some friends, came back to home.. and guess what? one cupid ice cream and the cherries were back. idk, but was so sweet! haha i feel like if Cookie had trow it back to me.. hehe so cute!

i love my petling, even if he eats my decor food, haha.

I got a blue dog, and I love her. What so wrong with the blue ones? Do people really not like them that much? They have cute puffy white eyeborws and a pretty pink collar. I don’t understand why people want to get rid of them…

    • 10 Pet Society Anonymous February 2, 2010 at 4:08 am

Glad you like your blue dog. I think it’s a matter of taste. Some people have complained about the pink color as well.

I’ve got a grey coyote… I named it Silver. It has got amber eyes and can jump really high. I think it looks like a werewolf! =)

      • 12 HahahaLOL May 28, 2010 at 12:28 pm

I Love My Pink Puppy! It surprised me for a second that it was pink and NOT orange or cream. I also have a fluffy white cat.. i guess im just getting cute petlings at the right time…

    • 13 Darcy February 2, 2010 at 10:39 am

I have a blue cat and to be honest I’m not fond of the colour, either. It pretty much clashes with the interior of my pet’s living room, lol. I know this is a lame thing to say and I’m certainly not trying to get rid off the pet.

But the “original” furry little petling that I bought from the store was much cuter than what it eventually turned out to be, and if I had known that they change so much then I probably wouldn’t have bought one.

ive got a blue cat and i love him

  5. 15 ChaosElement:X February 2, 2010 at 4:47 am

Oh gosh, I’d probably go crazy with all of these Petlings – not sure if I’ll ever be able to let one go… I want everything of every color, and just imagine what’ll happen wants Playfish adds “more Petlings.” >.<!

But, on a related note, I read somewhere that Petlings CAN be sold, but only after they're fully grown…. Letting them run away will probably not let you get another one…. I guess it's a baby-sitting thing – get a pet, don't like it, then take care of it for 3 days, and let someone else deal with it (*cough*Shop Owner*cough*). Hope that helps.

    • 16 Mouse February 2, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Agreed! I’m going to have sooooo many! I love them! You on Facebook? (ONLY if you want to) we could friends request. I’m Allison Montgomery — the profile pic with the feet. lol Just put Pet Society as a message.

  6. 17 mayuuu February 2, 2010 at 4:49 am

they basically can eat anything in your room once they are hungry, they will just not like it… so keep your rare food stored in a different room!!

  7. 18 leslie (pinkie) February 2, 2010 at 11:38 am

I got a puppy petling and would really prefer a kitten … so I hope it’s true we can gift the pet after it’s full grown. I am sure my mom (also on PS) would give my puppy a good home. It might be a virtual pet, but I could never just ignore it and let it run away. Will stick with what I’ve got if I have to.

  8. 19 babylemonade February 2, 2010 at 1:13 pm

So, does anyone know how long they can go without eating?
Mine turned from a puffball to a kitten when I fed it, now I like him that way! Do they still jump around when they are fully grown?

I had the opposite problem with feeding my petling – when I tried to give him some food, my pet grabbed it and ate it!

  9. 21 Modonoko February 2, 2010 at 1:30 pm

I think the pet’s pet’s feeding time is pretty random.
Hv to keep a watchful eye for his food request.

  10. 22 vamontebello February 2, 2010 at 1:33 pm

I love my petling! He’s even cooler now!

  11. 23 Andpet February 2, 2010 at 1:56 pm

The petling feeding time starts with each new PS day. So if you can, log in when PS starts a new day to feed your petling.

  12. 24 Emily February 2, 2010 at 2:27 pm

Maybe if you don’t like your petling you should wait for it to mature, perhaps then you can sell it.

  13. 25 anna February 2, 2010 at 4:21 pm

  15. 28 Spiffy February 2, 2010 at 5:01 pm

I wish my pet could actually play with my petling! I got one cuz I thought they’d play together, but my pet just walks by my kitten without even noticing it :( And when I tried to give the kitten some strawberry milk, my pet stole it and drank it instead!!! lol

  16. 29 Ferretbite February 2, 2010 at 7:17 pm

I was terribly amused by the rare food incident, not because I’m glad it happened to anyone but because it reminds me of why I never got into food collecting. Draco ate A LOT of stuff that wasn’t meant for him.

  17. 30 leann111 February 6, 2010 at 12:07 am

  20. 35 Kelly February 13, 2010 at 1:32 am

ive had this cute little blue petling kitten (^^) for the past week and i want another petling but it keeps saying “you need to wait until Blueberry (my kitten’s name :) ) is fully grown” is there something wrong with the game??

    • 36 Temari03 March 14, 2010 at 12:52 pm

it’s because the game is like this,
when they first put petlings to sale,i was the same as you
u need to let your petling mature, and you can buy another 1.

  21. 37 Herman's Human February 16, 2010 at 8:20 pm

How many Petlings can you actually have?
I have a cat and a dog, and I know they released a tiger (but that’s pay-only and I’ll never have one that’s pay), so that assumes we can have at least three?
I’d really like to know, so I don’t get too many in case they release a new non-pay Petling .. absolutely could not give one away if that happened – I used to be a Nintendogs addict before this and that was a crisis! :P

    • 38 HahahaLOL May 28, 2010 at 9:29 pm

I dont really know how many one person can have…. my friend has 6 petlings so you mind as well buy as many as you want :)

  22. 39 millie February 21, 2010 at 4:56 pm

  23. 40 Amy2i4oui314 February 22, 2010 at 1:39 am

Um actually your wrong you can change the color of your petling
if you have real playfish cash you can get color biscuit and feed it to your petling and it will change the color of the color of the biscuit cream
