Recently, Sushi gave his friend Jossie a Cleopatra wig from the Ancient Egyptian Treasure Hunt. Jossie replied with this funny note:
This inspired Sushi to try on the Cleopatra wig himself. (Note to new readers: Sushi is a boy, but he cross-dresses and acts like a girl sometimes.) He wasn’t sure if the glossy black wig suited him, but he had fun trying on some other wigs as well. Which one do you think suits him best?
Pink used to be my favorite color when I was like, seven. It probably came from my mother’s influence. She liked feminine, flirty things and dressed me up in all shades of pink—creamy pink, rosy pink, hot neon pink. The carpet in my childhood room was a cotton candy pink.
By the time I was in college, I had abandoned pink in favor of dark, moody colors. Every time I visited my mother, I couldn’t stand going into my old room, let alone sleep in it. The carpet had taken on a grayish tone, and reminded me of a pig’s intestines. I didn’t wear pink for many, many years.
Now, I am finding myself slowly returning to pink. This past winter, I kept warm in a fuschia cap (see the About page). In the spring, I bought a fitted shirt from Banana Republic in a very light pink. It’s the standard white business shirt, except it’s not white. Banana calls the color “Blissful Lavendar.” It’s barely pink; it whispers pink.
I love this. It’s become my go-to shirt for days when I have an important meeting and I need to impress. I want to buy six more of these and wear them every day… that’s how much I love this shirt.
My pet Sushi, however, still reflects my teenage rebellion stage. He looks best in blue or black. He is not built for pink. He hates pink and thinks these new items he dug out of the Enchanted Forest make him look like a third-rate drag queen trying to be Marie Antoinette. And he is so above that. He deserves better.
I’m in London this week and I’ve noticed a lot of hipster types with razor cut hair that falls over one eye. So how fun it is to see the Asymmetrical Wig in Pet Society! This wig, sold in the Clothing Shop for 1300 coins, is so cute on some pets, we have to give it 5 paws out of 5. We love how it’s unisex and makes our pets look like Adam Lambert or Rhianna.
We also dig the two new dyes at the Hair Stylist, in shades of plum red and dark purple. To change the color, remember to wear the wig when you go to the stylist. You must have at least 2 Playfish cash in order to preview the color. Then click on the dye that you want for instant celebrity hair.
Woo-hoo! We’re having loads of fun with our new Volcano Mask in Pet Society. Made in honor of the Icelandic volcano, this outfit makes a HOT fashion statement. Wear it and you’ll be erupting lava everywhere you go. It remains active even when you’re asleep (see below). To get your own volcano, go to the Clothes Shop and click “Accessories.”
Have you checked out the new Hair Stylist section in the Clothing store? For 2 Playfish cash, you can color your pet’s hair—er, wig. Make sure to wear the wig when visiting the shop, so you can preview the colors. Many pets are going wild over this new feature, but we’re wondering when the chair and hair dryer will be sold. Sushi wants to set up his own mop shop!
Color Me Brown
Do blonds have more fun? We think not! This pet darkened her blond bouffant, but is now having trouble deciding on the shade. Help her choose. Personally, I like dark brown. It’s very Agent 99.
Thanks to everyone for entering and voting in the Duck Ring Fashion Challenge. The winner is Kupi, the cute green pet who splish-splashed her way to the top. What did she want with the 2,000 coin prize money? Four Gold Mystery Boxes. We hope they were filled with exciting goodies!
Speaking of mystery boxes, the current fashion challenge going on in the PSA fan page involves the Sleepy Cat Hat found only in the GMBs. Sorry I was late in posting this information. I’ve had a cold this past week and wasn’t much in the mood to be on my computer. Anyway, you know the drill. Make it creative. Make it chic. Make it work!
By the way, a few people commented that they weren’t aware that backgrounds are taken into account. It’s not necessary to have a background, but sometimes, a good setting can improve a picture. As long as the pet remains the focal point of the picture, the background can give it the extra spark it needs. Take a look at the winning image from last week. Here’s Kupi with and without the background. The left picture feels like an unfinished story, but the background with the bathtub and candles give her the golden touch.
Thanks to readers for posting or sending in their pictures of their pets wearing the Duck Swim Ring. Out of the many entries, here are the six that we thought were the most impressive. We know some of you will be upset that you weren’t chosen, and we apologize for not being able to include all the cute pets that entered. Next to each entry, you’ll see our reasoning behind our decisions. Hopefully, this will help you for next week’s fashion contest.
Thanks to readers for voting in the St. Patrick’s Day Fashion Poll this past weekend. Our winner is Amber, whose pet Clover looked simply elegant in a luxury white wedding dress, braids wig and green ribbon hat. Clover edged out dozens of competitors and won 43% of the final votes.
Typical of the back-stabbing fashion world, a few pets made some catty remarks. One claimed that Amber was voting for herself repeatedly. This is not possible. The polls are programmed so that you can vote only once.
Others wondered why pets with more exciting, shiny outfits weren’t getting as many votes. Remember this principle: Less is more. Over-accessorizing can back-fire. Too much bling = tacky.
The prize for this contest was 2,000 regular coins worth of goodies. What did Amber want? Vegetable seeds! She says that she likes to garden; we can only imagine that she’ll start her own organic farm in Pet Society. We sent her 20 packs of seeds (100 coins each) and added a bit of golden poo. Here’s Clover with her winnings.
