The Home of a High Society Pet

pet society palace

Ever wonder what it’s like to be royalty? Jean-Pierre has always been a little prince, living it up in 5-star luxury. He was especially excited when the Versailles-themed items were released earlier this month. Kellie from High Society Pets gives us this exclusive tour of her pet’s palace, including the Hall of Mirrors, where Jean-Pierre takes tea with visiting pets of importance, his conservatory playhouse, and his dressing room.

I think Kellie did a fabulous job of decorating, don’t you? Check out more of her pet’s home at High Society Pets.

Candy Ceiling Lights Glow in the Dark

Yay! We found another glow-in-the-dark item this week. Thanks to Anushka from New Jersey for posting this image of the Candy Ceiling Lights on the Pet Society Anonymous page on Facebook. Here’s her pet Garnet Rose:

The Candy Ceiling Light is a one week only special for 250 coins in the DIY shop, in Fixtures & Fittings. We love the two little bunnies on top! In case you’re wondering, the tall Ice Cream Candle for 400 coins does not glow in the dark.

Cool Pet Society Pics 25.06.2010

petsocietybeach

We wish we could get away to a tropical paradise like Mina’s pet! The daytime and sunset scenes look like they could be from Tahiti, or perhaps Cape Town, SA, site of the FIFA World Cup. These vacation scenes are a snap to make. Just take a beach wallpaper (1000 coins at the DIY Shop) and a beach floor (300 coins) and voilà, you’ll have an instant beach, complete with palm trees, a small white hut and palm trees and islands in the horizon. (The larger Tiki huts and bars are separate.)

Notice that the Tiki Statue jumps and dances. To get your own statue, head to the Garden store, where they cost 1500 coins.

This amazing image comes from Tracy, whose pet looks like she went to Sea World. These are special charity items, from which Playfish donates 10 percent of the proceeds to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Finally, Dani C. writes in to say that she thought it was sweet when the Romantic Ice Sculpture sent to her by her husband turned out to be a pair of love swans. But then she got a second surprise when she turned down the lights and saw them glow. This is “A+ work from the Playfish artists,” she says.

Eco Trees Bear Gorgeous Fruit

eco fruit from eco trees
Sean posted this image recently of his pet standing next to the new Earth Day Fruit. We love the blue and white design; it’s almost too pretty to eat!

To get your own eco fruit, go to the Pet Society’s Garden Shop and pick up the new 600-coin seeds. Plant them and wait several days for the tree to grow. Then wait a few more days for the blue fruit to show up. Or, you can speed up the process by using the tree fertilizer which costs 1 Playfish Cash.

Review of Pet Society Bonsai Trees

bonsai tree in pet society

Have you tried turning a tree into a bonsai? Playfish recently gave us this option, and one reader, Julian from Australia rates it 3 paws. He says that the bonsai is super cute but a bit too pricey (7 Playfish cash). He also reports that the trees in his Secret Garden are still a bit out of place (see the picture above). The problem cropped up after Pet Society went through some major updates in early March.

In order to turn a tree into a bonsai, you have to lift it off the ground. Note that bonsais don’t produce any fruit, so the tree will no longer be a source of cheap organic food for your pet.

Café Scenes in Pet Society

My pet Sushi went café-hopping this week. Here are some of the coolest cafés he visited.

First stop was Deedo’s café by Modo. Modo says that she loves the idea of being surrounded by the aroma of cookies and coffee, freshly baked muffins and pies. Yummy! If she ever opened a cafe in real life, she’d furnish it with comfy chairs and books, and keep it pet-friendly!

Next stop was Joca Londonier’s bakery by Fábio. Joca is Sushi’s newest friend, and he wowed us with his enormous display of sweets. It looks like Joca has everything there is to eat in Pet Society!

Then we checked out Holly Golightly’s underwater hangout. We like the combination of the fish scenery and the luscious chocolate fountain.

Finally, we chilled out at the beachside cafe by Woofeni. Woofeni was highlighted previously as part of the Pet Society Traveler series, and it’s always good to visit him. This cafe is so inviting and peaceful, it’s like taking a breath of fresh air. Ahh…

Pet Society Design Challenge: Black Rooms

Everyone goes through a black phase at least once in their lives, especially during the teen years. Joe, a teen from England, sent in the picture above.

He knows the room needs improvement, but doesn’t quite know what to do with it. Well, I’m not such a great designer myself (I depend more on readers to provide inspiration), but I do have one piece of advice for Joe:

Yup, that’s really Marilyn Manson’s bedroom, circa 2007.

I also found some other blog posts about ways to decorate with black. Here’s an especially stunning example:

It’s all about balance. Too many dark colors will make a room feel smaller and claustrophobic, so you need lots of white and neutrals to lighten up the space. Large windows help.

Truth be told, Joe wrote in a couple of weeks ago, but this is the first moment I’ve had to write about his room. I recently went into his house and found his pet in a beautiful den that uses a good mixture of light and dark.

This is more like it! Just like a sharp black suit, this room is so gorgeous, it’s going to make your butt look good!

Now, if we can only do something about Marilyn Manson’s face…

Pet Society Room Design – Office Results

Last week, I posed a design challenge to transform an office. So many of you budding designers responded with some impressive suggestions and pictures. We saw a lot of different types of offices, everything from a simple, government-style box to an urban loft complete with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge.

However, this suggestion from Kim stays true to the room’s original spirit. Kudos to her for hunting down all of the items in Riley’s office. Here’s what she says:
“It’s all about arrangement. I used your original furniture, but I added some rugs and flowers for that homey feeling. Some books, a quill and a poster totally fit the office look. And with your achievements in Pet Society, you should show off your trophies….How about the open Aero Glass Door? If you’re bored with office work, you could just go outside for some fresh air.”

We love the new office so much we may just work late tonight. Then again, maybe we’ll just step out that door.

Weddings in Pet Society

It’s the dead of winter, but love is in the air. A reader named Natalie is planning a wedding and needs some decorating tips. She writes:

“My pet Poe has been with a pet named Penelope for a while now and decided to pop the question. Poe and Penelope are getting married in his big room on the fourth floor, but they need help for decoration of the reception. Poe is clueless; we were hoping you could help us.”

Here’s a room that’s perfect for the occasion. It’s been decorated with the gold and ivory furniture from December’s Ballroom collection and a vintage grand piano.

Weddings don’t come cheap, and this pet shelled out 3500 coins just for the staircase and another 900 for the reception table. A less expensive option may be to hold a more casual ceremony outdoors in your garden, under the shade of a tree. We also think Ziggy and Strawberry’s beachside wedding last year was simply perfect:

One final tip for the big day: Don’t forget to be nice to your bridesmaids!

Pet Society Room Design – The Office

Hey, Petsocietyholics! Wake up and smell the:

It’s January 4, which means that most of you will be going back to work or school. Are you as excited as I am that the winter holidays are O-V-E-R?

That’s actually an image of Victoria, sent by a reader named Riley, who writes:

Dear Pet Society Anonymous,
Victoria (my pet) needs your help. For some reason, she can not make her office look right. Which is odd, because in her town she is known for having the nicest and best rooms of all. Victoria is very upset! She can practically see her rep becoming something as lowly as having okay rooms! Can you give us any tips on how to re-design?

Here’s an image of her office. I think some flowers and plants could spruce it up. Your suggestions are welcome.
