More Petling Discoveries – Day 3

I’m proud to announce that today, George Clooney—yes, that’s my petling’s full name—grew another 4-5 centimeters. He’s now positively bigger than the reindeer plushie.

The growth spurt happened right after he ate a bone. Petlings appear to become hungry exactly 24 hours after their last feeding. They won’t leave you alone when they’re hungry. They will follow you and bother you at inconvenient times:

Thanks to Eric for sharing that awesome picture on the P.S. Anonymous fan page.

To get your attention, hungry petlings will stand on their hind legs or do a somersault. They’ll do another somersault right after you feed them. At least, that’s what George Clooney did.

Caution: Be careful where you leave your food. Some people have reported that their petlings gobbled up food, such as the new Cupid Ice Cream, that was displayed on a table. Keep the petling in a separate room to avoid unwanted surprises.

Amazing Petling Tricks

Pet Societyholics are as giddy as new parents over their petlings. All over Facebook, stories and pictures were shared of the petlings doing cool tricks or just being doggone cute. Here are some of the more memorable ones.

Ever see pets that resemble their owners? This petling didn’t fall too far from the tree:

This petling appears to have reached the state of nirvana after only two days of life.

Of course, I can’t resist sharing pictures of my own little petling…. I’m tempted to build an obstacle course in my home just to watch him do more of these Olympian leaps.

Want to share an image?
Has your petling done some amazing tricks? If so, post a pic on the PSA fan page. Best images get published on this blog. Be sure to state the names of your pet and petling. I’m also looking for images of your pet (the big one) wearing the latest clothing or wig. I’m not sure if I like the new items this week, but as Tim Gunn of Project Runway says, “Make it Work!” Best 4 images get picked for a fashion poll later this week.

Petlings Grow Up in Pet Society

The second day of our petling’s life was marked by significant growth. We couldn’t resist bringing out our measuring stick from our cooking days. As you can see here, on the first day, George was barely 2 centimeters in height and all paws could fit in 1 centimeter. After we fed him a rare steak on the second day, he shot up to 2.4 cm, or 20% growth!

However, we also saw that he was starting to get an attitude!

In any case, we can’t wait for him to mature to his full size. Already, we’ve noticed that in addition to walking and jumping, he can do a somersault in the air. And since Pet Society is full of surprises, we wonder if the petlings are going to start pooing!

Common Questions about Petlings in Pet Society

  • Q:How can I change my pet’s appearance?
A:Like so many things in Pet Society, the way petlings turn out is purely random. However, you can now change the color of the fur with a petling biscuit, which is available at the Cash Shop. Note that the biscuit does not change the eyes, the tail or any other feature except the color.

  • Q:Can I get more than one petling?
A:Only after your first one grows to its full size can you get a second one.

  • Q:What is the coolest name of a petling you’ve heard of?
A:Our friend Luxe named her petling James Dean. He rules.

  • Q:My pet has strange orange eyes. I hate it. But I can’t sell the petling, so I’m going to get rid of him by not feeding him and letting him run away.
A:I don’t know why Playfish made it impossible to sell or gift your petlings, but in some ways, this is akin to real life. You shouldn’t give away a pet simply because it didn’t turn out to be exactly what you wanted. Make the best of what you have!

Free Gift with Petlings

We heart the new petling feature in Pet Society. Bravo, Playfish. We think petlings are the game’s best new feature since fishing was released in July ’09.

We think it’s supercute that the petlings start out as little fluff balls begging for food. We giggle every time they dash across a room in their tiny legs. We also like the free gifts that come with the petlings.

That’s right, free gifts. Check your Facebook News Feed for a message like this:

If you’re one of the first three people to “claim your gift,” you just might get a Glitter Apple.

This apple gives Sushi an extra sparkle in his eye for 3 days. Not that he needs any help in that department. He’s pretty much in love with his new pup, and can’t wait to see how the little guy will grow.

A Pet for your Pet

We’re having fun with the latest petling feature in Pet Society. Sushi got a dog and is busy feeding it and watching it run around the house.

We had a moment of panic when the game asked us to name our new dog. After about 10 seconds, we decided to call it “George,” because we think that pets should have real, dignified names, and not adjectives like “Snowy” or “Sandy.”

We weren’t able to get the cat, because we don’t have enough coins right now, so we’ll have to wait to post about that. But maybe one petling is enough. After all, if we neglect to feed it for three days, it’s going to run away. Also, my real pet is wondering where the hell his food is.
