Hipster Hair in Pet Society

asymmetrical wig in pet society
I’m in London this week and I’ve noticed a lot of hipster types with razor cut hair that falls over one eye. So how fun it is to see the Asymmetrical Wig in Pet Society! This wig, sold in the Clothing Shop for 1300 coins, is so cute on some pets, we have to give it 5 paws out of 5. We love how it’s unisex and makes our pets look like Adam Lambert or Rhianna.

We also dig the two new dyes at the Hair Stylist, in shades of plum red and dark purple. To change the color, remember to wear the wig when you go to the stylist. You must have at least 2 Playfish cash in order to preview the color. Then click on the dye that you want for instant celebrity hair.

Squeeze into the Pet Society Cars

We love Minis and Smart Cars in the real world, but the new cars in Pet Society are like a pair of painfully tight jeans. Pets can barely squeeze into them.

We knew that the cars would be glorified chairs from the start, so we didn’t expect them to move. But considering the high price tag (9000 coins for the red model), we expected at the very least to sit in them comfortably. Not so. Other readers have been disappointed that pets can’t turn the steering wheel.

We give the cars 2 1/2 paws out of 5. They look good in a scene, but not with us in them. Our smaller petlings, however, are ready to cruise.

Still, if you want a car for yourself, head over to the Garden Store where they are sold.

Review of Mother’s Day Spa

The following story is by George, whose pet Jesse recently pampered himself at the spa.

Pet Society Fairy Dust Fail

fairy dust fail in pet society

We’re disappointed by the Fairy Dust being promoted this week. It sells for 2 Playfish Cash at the Boutique and it’s supposed to make your pet fly. But it barely gives us a lift. We give it a score of 2 paws out of 5, but only because the gold stars that shoot out are nice. The effects last for three days.

A reader named Abe is optimistic that this is just the beginning of super hero-like powers to come. But at this point, the fairy dust is a drag. It’s no match for the abilities of the Cute Ghost Toy from last year, which flies up, up and away.

Turning Japanese in Pet Society

Is there anything more beautiful than a cherry blossom tree or a delicately folded paper crane? Sigh. We are LOVING the new Japanese theme in Pet Society this week. There are so many great items to buy, we’re madly making visits to friends and shooing away flies to earn some coins.

Aliza gives five paws to the Zen Garden Door (pictured above). She says that the pink wind chime moves back and forth. This is a regular item, costing 2000 coins at the DIY Shop, and is a great alternative for those who don’t want to pay 14 cash coins for the Mount Fuji view at the Boutique.

Other items that Aliza’s pet is using:
Wave Painting: 4750 coins at the Market (Toys & Collectable)
Anime wig: 1200 coins at the Clothes Shop (Hair Stylist)
Japanese Traditional Wallpaper: 800 coins at DIY
Pink Kotatsu with Sleeping Cat: 3000 coins at the Furniture Store
Ceremonial Teapot & Tea Cups: 400 coins and 250 coins, Furniture Store
(The Japanese scroll and the pink bonsai are from last year.)

Skip the Hot Spring
Julie Anne also loves all the new items, except for the Japanese Hot Spring (10,000 coins) at the Garden Store. She reports that the spring doesn’t work; your little geisha cannot get into it and soak her tired legs. For 10,000 coins, this is a waste. However, if you look further in the Garden Store, you’ll see an older item, a Wooden Hot Tub that is functional and is only half the price. See the Hot Tub in action here: “Pet Society Spa, Mud Face Mask.”

Pet Society Product Reviews: Easter Mystery Gifts

fawns merry go round in pet society

As promised, the Easter “Mystery Gifts” in Pet Society were revealed this weekend. Sushi was excited to find a Fawns Merry Go-Round, thanks to a generous friend. The pastel-colored fawns are super cute and they move up and down, though not round and round, like a merry go-round should. He wanted to go for a ride, but found that he could not mount a fawn, no matter how hard he tried. This made him un-merry. Sigh.

Pink Tree Swing
A player named Nam was disappointed that the Pink Tree Swing can’t be swung. Still, we gave this a higher score (3 paws out of 5) than the other item. Both the merry go-round and the swing are glorified chairs, but the pet looks nice sitting on the swing, whereas sitting at the foot of a merry go-round is just plain dumb, not to mention dangerous in the real world. Still, the swing and merry go-round do look good, so if you want to get them, they’re available at the Boutique until next week.

Decorating Easter Eggs in Pet Society

easter egg in pet society

We’re impressed by the size of the new Easter eggs that were just released in Pet Society. As you can see, they’re bigger than the King Burger or Mega Pancakes. But unlike the giant food, they’re not edible, so there’s no danger of your pet (or petling) consuming them.

These eggs, which make up the third set for Easter in Pet Society, can be found in the Furniture Shop for 200-400 coins each. Optional pastel-colored holders go for 100 coins. The decoration from the Easter Mystery Eggs cost more at 400 coins each.

While we like the eggs themselves, we didn’t think the decorations were so hot (at least the ones that my pet found). The big aqua-colored ribbon looks like something from a used car dealership, and the ghostly smiley face feels out of place on the egg. We thought the smiley face was better as a prop for a play. Have you gotten something good from the Easter Mystery Eggs?

Update:
After I posted this, a reader sent in this picture of her pet. She has better decorations, for sure. The smaller blue ribbon works better than my large one, and the swirly flowers look good enough to eat!

Magic Mushrooms in Pet Society

magic mushroom circle in pet society

Surely, I can’t be the only one who got a chuckle out of this item in the Pet Society garden store. This gave my pet Sushi the perfect excuse to dress like a rasta. We wonder what we will see next. Pipes and bongs? Is Pet Society the gateway drug to other more dangerous addictions?

In any case, we like the magic mushroom circle enough to give it 4 paws. We like its sparkly effect and its ability to evoke memories of college. And camping in California. And the movie Avatar.

Pet Society Review: Piano & Lamp

pink country lamp in Pet Society

This week’s new items at the Pet Society Gadget Shop include a Pink Country Lamp (500 coins) that’s advertised as “Glow in the Dark.” As you can see, the first word of that ad is misleading. You’re just left in the dark.

A slightly better purchase is the piano in the Luxury Shop. There’s a brown one (2200 coins) and a white one (2800). But if you want to hear some music, you’re out of luck. As Ariel says, “It’s only a fancy seat. Again.” She gives the piano-chair 3 paws.

Pet Society Review: Garden Tea Terrace

Sushi splurged on the new Garden Tea Terrace (3000 coins), but was a bit disappointed that it was just for show. You can place stuff on the tables and the stone steps, but you can’t actually sit there and enjoy a cup of chai. Oh well. At least he got the money from last week’s game update, so he didn’t feel like it was too much of a waste. And it does look nice.

How did you spend your free 3000 coins?
